Our Building Surveying department is led by Scott Barlow and supports our other professional activities in providing our private / institutional clients and investors with advice on the best use of their property. This might be a property already in ownership or one which the client might be in the process of purchasing.
Our flexible approach allows us to respond to a client’s individual requirements by providing a “bespoke” and tailored service to suit all circumstances. This will often include a combination of the following roles:
Pre-acquisition condition surveys and feasibility studies of commercial properties.
Renovation surveys and initiation of maintenance repairs, refurbishment and alteration.
Project co-ordination of the “professional team” from conception to the eventual conclusion of commercial and residential schemes, including design, preparation of specifications, obtaining quotations, placing of orders, and the supervision of schemes.
Periodic and regular condition surveys for planned maintenance programmes and property performance reviews.
Working closely in-house with our valuation, management and agency teams in support of other advice which Whybrow might be providing.
Preparation and service of Schedules of Dilapidations in respect of lease covenants on behalf of landlords and the negotiation of claims on behalf of both landlords and tenants.
Advice on party wall matters as these might affect a client’s proposed development or that of an adjoining property. We would deal with any notices under the Party Wall etc Act 1996, including the inspection of plans, undertaking condition surveys of affected properties, negotiating and agreeing an award and monitoring the effects of the works during progress and on completion.
