The morning consisted of a guided tour throughout the units and an overall run through of very high specification that the office buildings are constructed to, highlighting the scheme’s close connection to the University and Colchester itself with its commanding views over Salary Brook and the Colne visible from the large picture windows which allow great natural light.

Steve Clarke, consultant for the Knowledge Gateway presented detail on the development and the University’s vision to attract high quality, research and development/high tech creators and entrepreneurs, linked to the skills and expertise the University’s world class educational output.

Parkside, the first phase of office development extending to 15,000sq.ft forms only part of the 40 acre/400,000sq.ft Knowledge Gateway which will generate up to 2,000 new high value jobs in Colchester. Parkside is the first project backed by the Growing Places Fund to foster economic growth and job creation in Essex, Kent and East Sussex.

At the present time, the level of high class research and development/high tech and office demand from occupiers is strong with lettings of circa 5,000sq.ft already agreed with Bowater Holographics Ltd, Games Hub who are taking 1,250sq.ft and in another unit 1250sq.ft to Smart Networked Environments.
