Ensors Move To Connexions

Thursday, 07 October 2021

After 35 years as custodians of Cardinal House and the site of the original Ipswich Hippodrome, Ensors Chartered Accountants have moved to shiny, brand new offices on Princes Street.

The new home for the award-winning East Anglian firm is the prestigious top floor of the Connexions building that provides a larger usable space to accommodate further expansion and a state of the art air conditioning system that provides reassurance in a post-COVID world.  Staff, client and visitor welfare was also front of mind as plans for a large roof terrace were drawn up and approved.  This will enable meetings to be held outdoors and will also deliver stunning views across the Ipswich skyline.

Barry Gostling, Ipswich Office Partner, says ‘this move has been a long-time coming as we have increasingly realised the need for a space that facilitated our collaborative way of working.  In order to deliver our clients with the best possible service it is essential that our teams work closely together and an open-plan space is clearly the best way to achieve this.’

David Scrivener, Managing Partner, says ‘following significant investment, our relocation is a clear commitment to our staff, our clients and Ipswich town as a whole.  Through the work of the Enterprise Zone, this area is rapidly becoming the premier position for the town’s professionals and we are really pleased to be a part of this future growth and development.’

Fenn Wright dealt with the lease negotiations and acquisition of the premises upon Ensors behalf and Alistair Mitchell commented ‘We were delighted to have assisted Ensors in their relocation and are confident that the new offices will prove to deliver their future business objectives’.

Ewan Dodds, CEO of Whybrow, who negotiated the letting on behalf of the landlords commented: ‘Having been bought in by the landlords to market this fabulous 8,500sq.ft suite, we immediately identified the potential interest from Ensors. We are delighted that, in the face of strong competition from alternative options, the Partners chose to commit to this building. It is so well positioned with its proximity to Ipswich railway station and the A14 and for them to move from a building that has been their home for over 30 years is an exciting step to witness.’

Julian Munson, Head of Enterprise Zones and Innovation for New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership, said: ‘Ensors decision to move into Connexions highlights the demand for flexible, well-connected office space, and is a real endorsement of this fast-growing professional corridor between Ipswich Station and the town centre. The Enterprise Zone in Princes Street provides space for new and expanding businesses across our key sectors, such as legal, finance and creative media, with easy access to road and rail links. The Maltings office complex, which is close to the Enterprise Zone, is now almost at full capacity which is another vote of confidence from businesses in this superbly located professional hub.’

Malcolm Hobbs from the landlords, added: ‘Ensors have made a massive endorsement to Ipswich and the economy in Suffolk generally, by committing their future to the landmark Connexions 159 building. This further cements Princes Street as the Business corridor in Ipswich, and we are grateful to Ensors Partners for their determination in identifying Connexions as the ideal home for their business.’
