Furlough Blog

Emily Furlough Blog.

Furlough, a word I had never heard until 2020 quickly became a huge part of many people’s lives; a huge saving grace for many businesses and employees alike. 80% of your wages paid for staying at home? Sounds great right? And yes, at first it is.

Having worked for the business since March 2018, Covid was the first opportunity for me to experience working from home. Working from home was an experience in itself; different setting, homely distractions, no journey to work, lay-in’s and dodgy internet. My experience of this lasted 3 weeks when my furlough period started at Easter.

Furlough allowed me to get those long overdue jobs done, rest and spend quality time with both family and friends – in line with restrictions of course!

After two months of Furlough, I returned to the office in July. The office was hugely different – hand sanitiser, perspect screens, distancing, and less staff. Being back at work has been fun, challenging, and lots more work to keep me busy!
