Description

Tymperleys comprises a 15th Century timber framed former residence, once home to William Gilberd, Scientist and Physician to Elizabeth I. Constructed in about 1500 as the service wing for a much larger house, it was restored in the 1950’s by Bernard Mason, benefactor and local businessman who left Tymperleys and his clock collection to Colchester Borough Council.

The Grade II listed building sits within a courtyard garden which contains an old Mulberry Tree and clock turret. Access to the property is through an archway under 7 Trinity Street.

The property comprises a range of areas and rooms over two floors including kitchen and basement.
